Sculpture at STUDIO 27B

Figurative sculpture courses to suit all levels of experience are offered at Brook’s studio in Westgate-On-Sea.

Both term time and holiday options are available, covering a variety of techniques — as well as an exploration of the cultural and aesthetic power of the human likeness. The programme is designed for adults (18+). A maximum of three students per class means that everyone can benefit from individually tailored one-to-one tuition. The studio is well equipped, light and relaxed and just 2 minutes from the station. And only five minutes from the glorious, sandy Westgate Bay.

(Please note that One Belmont Yard is now closed due to re-development –  so sculpture classes are no longer offered in Whitstable.)

THE EXPRESSIVE PORTRAIT: 4 day Easter break

Mon/Tue 8th/9th & Thurs/Fri 11th/12th April 2019 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What makes a successful portrait? Is a convincing likeness achieved by technical skill alone, or are there other, less tangible ingredients? These questions will inform this four day course as we attempt to move beyond likeness to explore the expressive potential of the contemporary portrait. A rest day in the middle of the week offers the chance to maintain momentum over an extended period – while staying fresh and motivated. We will be making a life-size portrait in clay working from a clothed sitter.

Intermediate/advanced

Early bird price (for bookings up to four weeks prior to the start date)£295

Standard price: £320
