The Goldfinch
This half scale sculpture was inspired by the chained goldfinch depicted in Fabritus’ exquisite small painting ‘The Goldfinch’ – painted in the year of his untimely death in 1654. Here, Rembrandt contemplates the tiny bird, briefly removed from its perch in his studio – and remembers his brilliant student, Carel Fabritus.
